Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center Begins Annual Fundraiser
Bryan, Texas, September 15, 2009 — The Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center, a Bryan non-profit physical rehabilitation center, has begun its annual Christmas in Aggieland Ornament fundraiser. The 2009 ornament features the Century Tree created by famed Aggie Artist, Benjamin Knox. The Century Tree is known not only for its history on campus but for the many engagements that occur under its boughs (which makes a perfect wedding gift for those ags).
The ornament fundraiser supports the many patients with disabilities in the Brazos Valley who are in need of financial help with occupational, speech and physical therapy. Started in 1994, Aggie traditions are depicted with seventeen different ornaments designed by renowned Aggie artists Tammie Bisset and Benjamin Knox. True collectibles, these numbered ornaments are 14K gold overlay presented in a stunning velvet maroon folder and manufactured by The Charleston Mint.
All Ornaments sell for $22.50 by website, phone, mail or at the Center. To purchase this unique gift for graduation or Christmas year round, order online at www.ChristmasinAggieland.com or call 979-776-2872.

Century Tree
The Century Tree, located at the heart of Texas A&M’s campus near the Academic Building, holds a special place in the heart of many Aggies. More than 100 years of age, the live oak was one of the first trees planted around 1898 on A&M's massive 5,200-acre campus. It is A&M’s most famous tree and one of its most recognizable landmarks. The tree has been the site of numerous marriage proposals, weddings and tourist snapshots because of its immense size and its unique drooping branches, many of which rest on the ground. Replant, another more recent Aggie tradition, will offer tree seedlings grown from the Century Tree’s own dropped acorns for sell in 2010.
Texas Aggie artist Benjamin Knox, ’90, designed this beautiful ornament, as well as many others in the collection, exclusively for the Christmas in Aggieland collectable series. To see and learn about Benjamin and his art, visit http://www.benjaminknox.com/
